What is 0G (0G)?

Currently, most AI systems are developed and controlled by a few large technology companies, and running AI on Blockchain is challenging due to various limitations.
0G, or Zero Gravity, is a decentralized infrastructure layer specifically built for artificial intelligence (AI).
It solves the problem of requiring large computational resources and fast data access, which traditional blockchains cannot efficiently support.
By combining all services together, developers can build and run AI applications directly on the Blockchain, reducing reliance on centralized providers and paving the way for a truly decentralized AI era.
0G Technology
0G Chain
Modular Architecture
0G separates the “consensus process” from the “transaction execution,” making the network more flexible and scalable while fully supporting the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
This means developers can deploy Ethereum Smart Contracts on the 0G Chain with minimal code modifications.
Network Security
0G Chain uses an improved CometBFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerant) consensus mechanism, allowing network nodes to agree on data even if some nodes fail.
Network validators can stake 0G tokens to participate in the consensus process and earn fees and other incentives for securing the system.
0G Compute
0G Compute is a system that provides users access to AI computing power through a global decentralized GPU network, instead of relying on centralized cloud services (e.g., AWS or Google Cloud) that are expensive and restrictive.
Decentralized Marketplace
The system works like a marketplace between “developers” and “GPU owners.”
If you are a developer:
You can deposit credits, request services such as AI training or model inference, and receive results from the best available GPU.If you are a GPU owner:
You can register your hardware, set your price, and earn rewards for completed tasks.
Smart Contract Advantage
Everything is managed by Smart Contracts to make payments automatic, secure, and transparent.
Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs)
0G Compute uses ZKP technology to verify processes without revealing the data itself, improving efficiency, trust, and privacy.
0G Storage
0G Storage is a decentralized storage system designed to handle massive datasets required for AI models, offering speeds comparable to traditional cloud providers while using a fully Web3 approach. Users can run Storage Nodes and earn rewards by contributing space.
The system uses Erasure Coding to split data into smaller pieces, keeping it accessible even if some nodes go offline. It also uses a Two-Lane Architecture to improve efficiency:
Publishing Lane:
Handles metadata and proofs of availabilityStorage Lane:
Manages actual data and replication
To ensure storage providers operate correctly, 0G uses Proof of Random Access (PoRA) to randomly challenge nodes to prove they hold specific data. Nodes that pass earn rewards, while unreliable ones are identified and penalized.
0G Data Availability (DA)
For AI and dApps, storing data alone is insufficient. Data must be accessible and verifiable at all times.
Mechanism of 0G DA
The system uses DA Nodes to randomly sample parts of data and submit proofs back to the network. Once verified, the process is finalized.
This method makes verification faster and more energy-efficient while maintaining security and reliability.
Use Cases of 0G
gaming
0G supports real-time updates, high-speed data storage, and efficient access, allowing game logic, player activity, and asset changes to be processed on-chain directly, creating responsive and delay-free Web3 gaming experiences.
DeFi
0G increases transaction settlement speed, price updates, and cross-chain operations through its scalable Data Availability layer. Compute and Storage layers also support advanced analytics and financial applications, ensuring speed, reliability, and smooth protocol composability.
0G Token
0G is the native token of the 0G ecosystem, used to pay gas fees on 0G Chain and central to protocol operations, including:
Paying for on-chain AI computation, storage, Data Availability, and decentralized services
Rewarding node operators such as Alignment, Validator, and Storage Nodes for supporting the network
Securing the network by staking 0G with Validators, participating in transaction verification, AI model monitoring, and governance

Summary
0G is a decentralized infrastructure combining Layer 1 Blockchain, Compute, Storage, and Data Availability to build and run AI directly on-chain. Although AI is the main focus, 0G’s modular architecture, verifiable outputs, and incentive-driven participation also support Gaming and DeFi that require high speed and reliability, establishing a solid foundation for modern Web3 applications.
